Xiaomi Starts Manufacturing Televisions in India
After setting up manufacturing facilities for smartphones and power banks in India, Chinese electronics major Xiaomi has announced that it will manufacture its popular Mi LED TVs in the country.
The new state-of-the-art facility in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, has been built in partnership with Noida-based Dixon Technologies to locally manufacture Mi LED TVs.
Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, said, "I have a vision of making Tirupati an IT Hub, offering a one-stop solution for leading electronics players encompassing the entire life cycle of and ecosystem in electronics from design to death."
"I am delighted to welcome Xiaomi, the undisputed leader of 'Smart TVs' in India, along with Dixon Technologies to the holy city of Tirupati and to the family of other leading electronics players that will help showcase the state as an example of transparent governance," Naidu added.
The 32-acre Mi LED TV manufacturing plant will have a production capacity of 1,00,000 Mi LED TVs per month by the first quarter of 2019.
Manu Jain, Vice President of Xiaomi, and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, said, "We are proud to take the next step with the support of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
