World’s Largest IT Training Company, New Horizons plans to enter India through Franchising
In conversation with Franchise India, Michael Smith, Group Vice President, New Horizons, speaks about the opportunity he sees in India for international firms and his future plans for growing his business.

India is now becoming a favourable playground for investors and entrepreneurs that are looking to expand and grow their corporate training firms in today’s time. While the Indian education industry is constantly being disrupted with new business ideas and technologies, the industry is assumed to grow at an even greater pace in the upcoming time.

Thus, budding entrepreneurs, franchisors, and franchisees could lock their interest in the corporate training segment, strategising and planning accordingly for emerging as renowned brands in the same industry.

In conversation with Franchise India, Michael Smith, Group Vice President, New Horizons, speaks about the opportunity he sees in India for international firms and his future plans for growing his business.

About New Horizons

As changes in technology have accelerated, it’s become even more essential for people to master technology to be productive, invaluable employees who optimise, program and invent solutions—and even grow companies of their own.

For 35 years, New Horizons has provided more than 30 million students with industry-leading technical training that delivers the most relevant and intuitive computer courses and certifications.

New Horizons is an authorised partner to top technology providers at a global level. For students, that means training with the highest quality course materials and the latest products and technologies. For businesses, it means getting the highest return on their training investment.

World’s Largest IT Training Company

Growing and running the world’s largest IT training company is not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires sheer dedication, enthusiasm, courage, passion, and most importantly, the right kind of planning for making it a reality. If not done, one might face difficulties that could lead to a loss in business, eventually affecting the overall operations of a business.

Smith says, “Our career and corporate training solutions turn ambitions into marketable skills and business goals into results—with learning methods for virtually every schedule and style, plus vendor-authorized learning tools and expert instruction. We’ve trained millions of people in thousands of organizations to make the most of technology. In fact, 90% of IT professionals recommend New Horizons.”

Synchronising Education through Virtual Live Classroom

The Online LIVE segment of New Horizons is all about connectivity and the Internet of Things (IoT). The brand is removing geographical boundaries from learning by engaging and bringing instructors and students together, synchronising them in a virtual live classroom.

After being an active franchisee of New Horizons, you could start generating revenues by offering students a dynamic and interactive learning environment.

“95% of surveyed organisations who have taken self-paced e-learning training say their job performance has improved more than 75%,” adds Smith.

Filling Skill Gaps with Confidence

Franchisees of New Horizons could get an opportunity to make money by assessing the skills of students in order to fill the gaps. This means that in addition to the comprehensive core business training, franchisees can each expect training and launch packages that are tailored to specific needs.

Smith explains, “We don’t run a ‘one size fits all’ training schedule because we know each individual with whom we partner is just that; an individual.”

Business Model of New Horizons

“Our business model is to have solutions for selling training to corporates—big and small—and to the governments all across the world. We are also working on providing solutions to consumers that want to develop themselves for the future,” added Smith.

In tier 2 and 3 cities, the franchise of New Horizons is available at a cost of around US$ 150,000 (Approximately 1 Cr in Indian currency). Whereas, for tier1 cities, the overall investment is a bit high, requiring around US$ 250,000 (INR 1.7 Cr) as an investment. The brand is looking to expand its footprints in different cities of India, namely – Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
