Vaccination Card made mandatory for admission in Uttarakhand schools
The move will enable health department to achieve the goal of 100% immunisation under Universal Immunisation Programme.

In order to boost the overall immunisation percentage in the state, the Uttarakhand Government has made 'Vaccination Card' mandatory document for getting admission in any government or private school of the state.

Under the new policy, any child who wants admission in play school, nursery or kindergarten, will have to provide this document up to his/her actual age. The move will enable the health department to achieve the goal of 100% immunisation under the Universal Immunisation Programme.

Yugal Kishore Pant, Director, National Health Mission Programme, Uttarakhand, said, "The ASHAs and ANMs of respective areas will co-ordinate with the schools and collect information about children without vaccination card or incomplete vaccination history and then based on that list, we will be assigning experts to facilitate them."

"The strategy is not to leave even a single child without vaccination," he added.
