UK Universities Are Providing Collaborative Opportunities To Indian Institutes
Universities in the UK are keen on forging deeper collaborations with Indian universities and companies

The UK and India are bound by deep and common bonds – historical, social, economic and cultural. Our histories are entwined in ways that we are still uncovering. Many UK citizens are of Indian heritage, contributing hugely to our communities and our society.

As a major emerging economy, India is expanding its higher education sector and developing world-class research and training institutes. As global research leaders, both countries have much to gain from closer collaboration and widening opportunities.

Thus, to tap on this growing industry, Universities in the UK are keen on forging deeper collaborations with Indian universities and companies. Since India only allows the top 200 globally ranked universities to collaborate with Indian universities, UK India Business Council (UKIBC) is pushing for easing of norms in India.

Why Targeting India?

India has the largest university-age population in the world and combined with its significant economic growth, there is now an urgent demand for innovation in education and training delivery. There are huge opportunities for UK higher education providers to expand in India.

To utilise the full potential of Indian Education market, UK universities are proposing to allow collaboration with top 500 universities, as some of the individual courses in the top 500 universities could be top ranking.

Major Benefits

UK universities are not only keen to collaborate with Indian Education institutes but are also interested in attracting more Indians to come and study in the UK.

Indian graduates lacked the most in soft skills such as creativity. This is an area where the UK is very strong. Thus, the UKIBC is also preparing to launch an online platform in March to match the skill needs of Indian companies with those that can be provided by UK universities.
