The Indian Education system has become heavily dependent on Private institutions. As a result, the quality of education in government schools is deteriorating by the day. With the literacy rate of 74.04% and 29.8% of the population living below the poverty line, India needs to improve the quality of education in government schools.

Teacher training is the most vital factor one should consider to improve and maintain the quality of our education system. Recently, the government of Delhi sent 200 teachers to Singapore for a teacher-training programme to observe their teaching methodologies and imparted the knowledge gained to their schools on return.

Moving Ahead of Rote Learning

Rote learning has remained an integral part of your education system for a long time now. Now, educational institutions are finding different concepts of effectual teaching adopted by school teachers globally.

The idea of rote learning is highly discouraged worldwide. In fact, the students are asked to tell teachers the lessons they want to be taught that day.

The teachers sent to Singapore for training learned to promote student participation, impart vocational knowledge as well as academic knowledge while giving students space to freely come up with ideas.

Technology in Education

With the evolution of technology, our institutes need to cope up with emerging trends in the education sector. The Government schools need to focus and internalise technology in education. They also need to come up with new strategies and innovative ways to make education fun and less burdensome for students.

With the largest percentage of young people in the world, India needs to develop its human resource keeping in mind the latest innovation and technological developments in the education sector. They must be provided with working competencies and skills to make them future read.

Thus, to induce this change, there is a need for effective teacher training, assessments and technology adoption to ensure that teaching and learning outcomes are at par with the best global practices.

Making Learning Fun

Quoting Albert Einstein, “Fun is just another way of learning.” The government are finding innovative ways to make education fun and interesting. After the successful implementation of 'Happiness Curriculum' for all students studying up to Class VIII, government schools are now working out schemes for implementing the ideas observed in the foreign schools.

Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, said, "We have to find innovative ways to make education fun and less burdensome for students. In Delhi, we have already cut down the curriculum by 25 per cent to reduce the burden on students and introduced happy curriculum."
