The education sector in India is expected to reach US$ 101.1 billion in 2019

India is a developing country with a population of over one billion. With approximately 29 per cent of India’s population being between the age group of 0-14 years, there is a huge opportunity for the primary education industry. Under the right of universal education until age 14 by the constitution of India, has given a much-needed boost to the primary education sector.

Despite all the efforts, there are still more than 115 million children of primary school age do not attend school.  However, a bright light shines at the end of the tunnel. With the evolution of technology, the process of teaching and learning is bound to become more interesting and practical. Thus, increasing the admission rate in the primary education segment. Below are some emerging trends that will disrupt the primary education industry in India.

Use of Technology at Teaching Level

Use of technology has been there in the education industry for quite a while. But, it wasn’t much included instead used as an additional tool for learning.

However, the Gen-Zs are so much into technology nowadays, that it has become almost impossible to not include technology in some form or other. One of the recent developments in the primary schools is Google classroom, more prevalent in urban areas. But the increase in popularity will lead to its entry in rural areas as well.

3D is the Future

The 3D technology has been in the industry for a long time now but has recently emerged in full influx. Many franchises & startups have brought forth the 3D experience into the classrooms. They deliver a highly enriched learning experience with the use of advanced virtual reality content mapped to the primary school curriculum, leading to an immediate increase in the academic performance of students. Virtual reality (VR) is another feature of technology that real-life experience to students. It helps them by enhancing their classroom experience.

Resurrecting the Indian Languages

India is a multilingual country with more than 22 languages spoken here. In the race of competing with other schools on an international level, our Indian languages were comprised upon. Sanskrit was a huge part of our primary education system, which was later on replaced by foreign languages like French and German.

However, there has been an emerging trend of the revival of Indian languages and will play an important role in the primary education sector.

Skill-Based Learning

With the growing demand for skilled employees in the employment sector, there has been an increased emphasis on skill development in educational institutes. Schools are adapting skill-based learning from the early stage itself, and therefore taking a break from mundane traditional methods of rote learning. According to a recent study, 65% of today’s grade school kids will end up at a job that hasn’t been invented yet. Skill-based learning is going to be the future of primary education. Hobbies might help children to enhance their intrapersonal and interpersonal skills, which will prove to be beneficial in future.
