Syona Cosmetics raises second tranche of Angel Funding

Chennai-based start-up Syona Cosmetics Pvt Ltd, providing professional beauty products and training to leading salons and spas across Southern region of India, has raised Rs1 Crore in the second tranche of Angel Funding from The Chennai Angels.

The company has tie-ups with international laboratories in Europe for developing world class products that are a combination of latest global trends in formulation, actives, fashion and practices.

“This second tranche of angel funding has come at a crucial time. We are growing aggressively and looking to hire key talent in the sales domain to join the management team. We will be intensifying our coverage in South India with these funds,” said Raja Varatharaju, Founder, Managing Director & CEO, Syona Cosmetics Pvt Ltd.

Founded in 2012, by Varatharaju and Anuradha Balasubramanian, Syona Cosmetics is known for its high-end professional cosmetics, marketed under its flagship brand - Estrella Professional.

Estrella Professional is empaneled with corporate chains like YLG, Naturals, Limelight, Naturals@home, House Joy, Stay Glad, Get look among other premium salons. Today, with beauty products specifically developed for Indian skin types, Estrella Professional is amongst the top 3 players in Skin category in Tamil Nadu.

Further, elaborating on the expansion plans of the brand, “We are now ready to enter the Hair and Body categories in salon products; our Skin products have been extremely well received by many leading salons and spas across the country. We are also preparing to go beyond salons and launch our beauty products in the retail market,” said Varatharaju.

Founded by Syona Cosmetics has also established Estrella Skin and Hair Academy (ESHA) that has trained over 5000 beauticians till date and has beauty and hair courses for advance skill development.
