“Our Aim is to Foster Digital Skill Sets for a Young Nation ", Nandita Abraham

With over twenty years of dynamic experience across corporates and academia, Nandita Abraham has made her presence felt in the World Map of Fashion Education. She joined Pearl Academy in 2001 as a faculty in the School of Creative Business. After holding several positions in the Institution, she is currently the CEO, Pearl Academy with a handful of experience in enhancing education worldwide.  

Nandita Abraham has also forged a historic association with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) wherein 200 designers came together to directly hone talent of budding professionals at Pearl Academy.

Talking to educationbiz in an exclusive interview, Ms. Nandita Abraham, CEO, Pearl Academy unveils her extraordinary journey in marking Pearl Academy in the world map of Fashion & Design Education.

Tell us about your entrepreneurial journey so far.

It has been an inspiring journey and in these 25 years at Pearl Academy, there have been massive transformations that have taken place. The collaborative efforts put together by members of Pearl; be it students, faculty members, thought leaders, all of them have played a pivotal role since inception in making the institute a recognized academic foundation. We have evolved over the years and have become one of the finest academic institutions in the country.

It’s a proud moment for all of us to have successfully transformed our vision of providing students with global quality education standards in a competitive business landscape. We have rigorously trained our students, bridged numerous skill gaps and helped them grow in their respective fields. At Pearl, we follow a world standard curricula and our faculty has successfully helped hone the students’ skills to become industry experts in a fast evolving realm. We endeavor to foster creativity in the classroom via burgeoning digital tools and have consistently been achieving the best results in the Industry. The plethora of activities and exposure offered to students here at all our Pearl campuses is a testimony to their successful careers. We have introduced ADTA – Adobe Digital Technology Academy to our curriculum recently and this will bring us tangible results in the digital evolution in academia. This is a testimony to our excellence and uniqueness!

What was the idea behind Adobe Digital Technology Academy?

Pearl has set up the Adobe Digital Technology Academy (ADTA) which is aimed to foster digital skill sets for a young nation with rapidly growing demands from industries hiring highly skilled candidates. This inclusive collaboration will be a part of our “total learning system” that is a unique academic overlay.  It will empower our students and further enhance their employability in a fast-growing economy and highly demanding business landscape. Pearl Academy has multiple campuses and a large student population of 4500 children across India; this is an advantage we have and we want to take every opportunity to improvise our offerings and further help in the 360 degree academic development of our students. As an institution focused on modern, digital and highly advanced skill training, we at Pearl, since inception have focused on employability, entrepreneurship programs, international business and digital technology. We focus on key result areas of each student and help them nurture and explore their skills to suit the industry they wish to ultimately join.

What pushed you towards digital Education?

Today we are living in a technologically advanced digital world. Most of the content consumed in business and personal fields are accessed through digitally. Students find it interesting and innovative than the traditional learning methods. Education through digital tools will open up a cave of treasure for our students and will play a significant role in their learning needs. This will act as a catalyst for our students and help them become future ready to meet challenges with effective results.

How important is skill development in nurturing the young minds of tomorrow?

India is predicted to be the youngest nation in the next decade, and with a population that already comprises of a massive number of millennials, skill development and nurturing the young minds of tomorrow, is an essential part of nation building. It is our responsibility as academicians to ensure that today’s youth is future ready and competitive. They have confidence in the face of challenging situations, and they are built to rise to any occasion which may present itself as a hurdle. We believe that the brilliant minds who come to Pearl year on year are a focused group of individuals who are ambitious and demanding. India’s future rests on these young minds, so we are collaborating with ADTA to ensure that they have a secure future.

Tell us about further collaborations.

We have been masters in creative education for over 2 decades now. Since there is so much dynamism and job roles are changing so fast, we will continue to innovate and fill the industry needs in future too.

What are your expansion plans for the next 5 years?

We will continue to evolve and expand as we have till today. Education is an integral part of our fabric when it comes to building a secure and financially independent future, and we are the custodians to imparting knowledge to the young minds of today. As you know, we are already in collaboration with renowned institutions across the globe and have plans to explore more such international opportunities in the future as well.
