Okinawa Autotech Partners Tacita; Inaugurates R&D Centre in Italy
This partnership will not only enable the company to access better research and development facilities but will help in skill transfer between the two countries too.   

Electric Two-wheeler manufacturer, Okinawa Autotech, has inaugurated its first Research and Development Center in Italy, Europe, in a strategic partnership with Italian Company Tacita. Both the enterprises will come together to invest 25 million Euros (INR 22.19 Cr) over a period of three years, for Research and Development in the Electric Vehicle Industry.

According to the official press release of the Okinawa, Co-Founder of Tacita, Pierpaolo Rigo, will lead this new Center of Technology in collaboration with Okinawa’s local R&D team in India. “It is a conglomeration of the industry’s best talent to optimize product performance and design. Both Okinawa and Tacita will strive to implement the company’s vision of providing
world-class technology to delight the customers, “added the official release.

Okinawa has said that this global R&D center will focus on new product development, upgradation of the product portfolio and development of a new e-powertrain to support the next generation of products. The company will soon start an employee exchange program with Tacita to enhance the skill level of employees’ at both the domestic and global level. Okinawa stated that more than 50 specialist including some from India will be employed at this center.

An electric cruiser motorcycle by Okinawa, scheduled for launch in India in upcoming months, will be the first product designed in this R&D center at Italy. The company claimed that this cruiser motorcycle would have the latest EV technology and best-in-class performance amongst the motorcycle segment globally.

Managing Director and Founder of Okinawa Autotech, Jeetender Sharma, while inaugurating the R&D center said that Okinawa has invested INR Five Billion, towards the development of new products, manufacturing facilities, network expansion and brand building over the last five years. “As a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles in India, we are focused on strengthening the EV ecosystem,” he added.

He also said that setting up the global R&D center showcases Okinawa’s ambition to bring the best technologies from the entire world for the Indian customers. “The center will be working on developing futuristic technologies for next-gen electric vehicles. We appreciate the support received from our partner Tacita in developing our first high-speed electric cruiser motorcycle for the Indian and global market. We are excited to bring this product to India to help us further strengthen our presence in electric two-wheeler industry,” added Sharma.
