Mobike pulls out of Bhubaneswar smart city project
This comes after Meituan Dianping, largest Chinese online on-demand service provider company, took over Mobike in a Rs 2.7- billion deal.

Mobike, the Chinese bike-sharing giant, has pulled out of the Bhubaneswar smart city project. This comes after Meituan Dianping, largest Chinese online on-demand service provider company, took over Mobike in a Rs 2.7- billion deal.

The move comes as a blow to Odisha government’s plan. They have planned to launch a public bicycle-sharing system in Bhubaneswar before the World cup Hockey event in November.

After Mobike’s decision, the state government is initiating a fresh process to award public bicycle sharing licence.

In April 2018, the bike-sharing giant was selected to implement the bicycle sharing service in the state. But before the deal could process further, Mobike was sold to Meituan Dianping.

Some of the companies like Hero, Ola Pedal, Mobycy and Zoomcar have shown initial interest in the project.
