Mitsubishi Electric To Invest USD 113 Million In New Plant In Turkey
Mitsubishi Electric to expand production capacity at a/c base in Turkey. The new plant will meet growing demand for air-to-water heat pumps and room air conditioners in Europe.

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced it will invest TRY 1.44 Billion (Turkish lira) which is USD 113 million in a new plant at Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Manufacturing Turkey Joint Stock Company (MACT), the company’s air-conditioner production base in Turkey.

The expansion will expand MACT’s annual capacity for air-to-water (ATW) heat pumps to 300,000 units, up by 100,000 units from current capacity, and room air conditioners to 1,100,000 units, up by 300,000 units. Production will begin in February 2024.

An air-to-water heat pumps is a hot-water heating/supply system that uses heat-pump technology to transfer heat from outside air to water, which is then circulated indoors to warm entire houses

Mitsubishi Electric is growing its global Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) business under an expansion strategy through 2025 that is focused especially on the European heating-system market.

Conventional boiler-type heaters that rely on fossil fuel are rapidly being replaced with ATW heat pumps in line with Europe’s decarbonisation policies, which is driving the rapid growth of the ATW market in Turkey and across Europe. Meanwhile, ongoing climate change is stimulating increased demand for room air conditioners, which are increasingly being viewed by local consumers as commodities rather than luxuries.

Eco-friendly CO2-emission-reduction measures at the plant will include enhanced thermal insulation, exhaust-air heat recovery and effective use of renewable energy.

Mitsubishi Electric has continued to invest in Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Manufacturing Turkey Joint Stock Company since establishing the subsidiary company in 2016, including making an additional investment of 222 million Turkish lira (17.3 million USD) in 2021.

Mitsubishi Electric Vehicles, Outlander PHEV

Mitsubishi is a leader in eco-friendly technology. From past electric cars like the i-Miev to current hybrid vehicles like the Outlander PHEV. In recent years, with the production of Outlander PHEV, Mitsubishi has focused on Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology pushing the boundaries of what's possible with hybrids.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is one of only a few small SUVs that can run on electric power without being fully electric. Mitsubishi's first electric car has good looks and 300-mile range. It's a plug-in hybrid, so you can recharge its battery at home or at a public charging station and drive a short distance up to 24 miles, according to the EPA on all-electric power. With an electric range of 28 miles, you can cover every day journeys like the school run or commute on electric power alone, while you also have a high efficiency petrol engine that provides the perfect balance of fuel economy and performance on longer trips, with a combined range of over 400 miles. The Outlander PHEV will run for up to 28 miles in pure-electric mode, making it ideally suited for the school run or the work commute. Those with range anxiety need not worry, as when the electric charge is depleted the petrol engine takes over.

Mitsubishi’s Eclipse Cross Plug-in Hybrid combines electrifying style and all-wheel drive capability, it delivers the option of fully electric driving for your daily commute, with the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer journeys.
