India’s last mile delivery is expected to reach USD 7 Billion by 2024. With a conducive and growing delivery market, electric vehicles may prove to be a turnkey solution to the last mile delivery in India.

Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited (MEML) ranks as the market leader for electric 3-wheelers in India. It has partnered with Terrago Logistics, which is a Delhi-based start-up. Terrago currently has a fleet of 65 Mahindra Treo Zor cargo vehicles deployed with online grocery major, Big Basket in 3 cities and leading logistics major, Porter. In the coming months, Mahindra Electric will supply additional Electric Vehicles (EVs) to Terrago for its zero-pollution fleet expansion.

The Mahindra Treo Zor 3-wheeler cargo was introduced in India in 2020 and features a wide range of applications depending on the body type. With a superlative power of 8 kW and high torque of 42 Nm, the Zor is built on the proven Treo platform and comes with the highest-in-class payload of 550 kg.

Till date, Mahindra has sold over 18,000 Treo 3-wheelers across the passenger and the cargo segment and has a 73.4% market share in the electric 3-wheeler segment. The Treo is also exported to the UK and Nepal markets. With the Treo Zor, customers can save more than 5 Lakh in fuel cost in 5 years, as compared to diesel cargo 3-wheelers.

Terrago Logistics is a phygital company that provides end-to-end logistics solutions in multi-modal transport, warehousing and last mile delivery through electric vehicles to the F&B, consumer goods, industrial goods, paper and packaging industries.

Recently, this May Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited’s (MEML) divisions - Last Mile Mobility (LMM) and EV Technology Centre (EVTEC) purchased a new office in the technology hub of India with the office address as Velankani Tech Park 43, Hosur Road, Electronic City, Phase 1, Bengaluru.

This new office is in line with MEML’s expansion strategy and creating an exciting workspace for its employees. This office has a seating capacity of more than 500 employees and will house the entire workforce of EVTEC and certain functions of LMM.

Moving towards the revival and survival of the pandemic, Mahindra Electric’s employees have started  work-from-office from 1 April 2022. The necessary Covid 19 protocols have been followed. This Velankani premise is spacious and has up-to-date infrastructure that is eco-friendly, and a self-sufficient campus, strategically located in the technology hub of the city. This must be boosting employee morale and accelerating Mahindra Electric’s vision to redefine last mile mobility by developing cutting-edge EV technologies, as of now Mahindra Electric stands tall and first in India’s electric3-wheeler segment.
