Maharashtra To Start Country’s First Liquor Home Delivery
Maharashtra government is planning to introduce a policy which will enable home delivery of liquors.

In what could be the first of its kind in India, the Maharashtra government is planning to introduce a policy which will enable home delivery of liquors. Maharashtra will emerge as the first state in the country which will be tying knots with several e-commerce websites for delivering alcohol online.

Opportunities for e-commerce websites

Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister, the State of Excise says, “Alcohols would be delivered home through platforms similar to national and international e-commerce websites. Consumers would be able to get alcohols just the way they get groceries and vegetables at home.”

Existing and new e-commerce websites can consider this as one huge business opportunity which can help them attain success in a quick interval of time.

Discounts and offers

One key benefit that liquor brands can offer is the discount and offer which comes with an online product. Today’s generation is highly inclined towards great deals which can make the brands come up with exciting offers and discounts, usually not present at the offline store.

This move can help their sales elevate, building loyal customers for a long run.

The rise of job opportunities

This can be a mighty move for people who are looking for job opportunities. The companies would require delivery boys, which will result in generating job opportunities. Therefore, if you are interested in becoming one, it’s the right time for you to look and apply for the job.

"Apart from reducing instances of drunken driving, it would also generate employment for youths who deliver the product,” adds Bhandarkar.

Game changer for the liquor industry

The implementation of this policy is believed to be the game changer for the liquor industry. Liquor owners will look to enter the online space, once the policy comes into effect. Liquor businessmen/women will be entering the online space after marking their impact on the offline platform.

Maharashtrians liquor brands can then provide service, delivering liquor to consumers doorsteps. It will also result in curbing the menace of drunk driving.

Offering unlimited choice to customers

The midnight craving habit and sleeping pattern of today’s generation will hugely affect the sales of liquor business once the policy is implemented. The tech-savvy population could be another audience which is going to utilize this feature more than anyone.

Shreerang Bhandarkar, High Court Lawyer says, “This policy would offer unlimited choice to consumers and ensure that quality is maintained."
