In the last few years, the edutainment industry has been seeing a revival, as many startups are coming up to cater to the rising demand in the sector.

 

Edutainment is the new education method added in the blocks, which is gaining popularity among educators as well as children. Since technology has reached to kids for their education benefits, educators have found a way of mixing the concepts of education and entertainment to offer children an interactive learning experience.

Currently, the market size of edutainment-based products in India has reached $6 billion. In the last few years, the edutainment industry has been seeing a revival, as many startups are coming up to cater to the rising demand in the sector. In this age of technology, most startups are concentrating on the Internet, via mobile apps and games, to cater to the audience.

Evolution in Education Industry

Sona Mazumdar, Sona Mazumdar, Chief Partnership Officer at KidZania, writes, “The Indian education industry has experienced an evolution particularly with regards to the methods of delivery to children. Mazumdar says, “Parents who are working professionals are exploring and preferring unconventional methods of learning for their children. While there are various innovative gadgets available in the market that make learning digitally appealing and somewhat interactive, they do not always guarantee fully immersive learning experience represent of a child’s real world. In this quest, the need for edutainment has been on the rise as it allows children the opportunity to take action ‘real-time’ part in different activities, which as the children grow older, will influence their habits and enhance their decision-making abilities.”

Technological Revolution

Mazumdar adds, “Evidently, technological revolution seems to have actually transformed companies in the education and entertainment sectors and provided them with improved integration opportunities to grow profitably. Also, the need for children to learn in a more interactive way that keeps them engaged until the learning is complete has also been a key driving force to encourage more edutainment based concepts to emerge.”

She further says, “Established brands are also driving this sector with increased investments to capitalize on the growing demand for better learning experiences for their young customers. Signaling positive change, edutainment is being positioned rightly so to cater to future generations and transform the idea of imparting education while simultaneously creating new avenues for the growth of the entertainment sector.”
