JSKRC wellness tie-up with Kohinoor Technical Institute to lift training standards
Indian beauty and wellness domain is facing major challenges of inadequate availability of trained staff, lack of standardized training curriculum, absence of quality trainers and less awareness of benefits of vocational training.

Kohinoor Technical Institute (KTI) is known as one of the largest vocational training institutes in India while JCKRC Spa and Wellness Education (JSWE) is the pioneer of spreading education and training in the wellness industry.

The duo has collaborated recently in a bid to impart Government Approved and Industry Ready vocational training in beauty and wellness sector in India.

Aimed to lift the current standards of Indian beauty and wellness industry, the duo- KTI and JSWE aspire to create a benchmark in the industry by providing vocational education of international standards.

Commenting on the same, Global Wellness Ambassador for India and eminent personality in the Beauty and Wellness Sector, Rekha Chaudhari said, “JSWE is glad to be associated with KTI and together we aim to train and empower youth in beauty and wellness sector.There is a huge demand-supply gap for a skilled manpower in the wellness and beauty sector.This gap is deep and grim and that prompted KTI and JSWE to team up and take up a genuine and daunting task of closing this gap through this collaboration.”

Significantly, India’s Beauty and Wellness domain has been facing major challenges in terms of inadequate availability of trained staff, improper infrastructure, less standardized training curriculum (especially at the entry level), limited number of quality trainers, inadequate funds to ease financial access to outcome-linked skills training initiatives and also lack of awareness about the benefits of vocational training.

Meanwhile, Sameer Joshi, CEO & Director, KTI informed, “The training institute will be equipped with the latest equipments and training programmes will be given on leading international brands of products to ensure that skills are well sought once the individuals enter the job market. Beauty and wellness industry is estimated to be around $10.5 billion category, growing upwards of 20 per cent annually and is expected to clock similar growth rates going forward, too.”

Govt. intervention

The programs offered by KTI and JSWE under this recent tie-up will provide education under the aegis of NSDC’s PMKVY scheme. The courses like Assistant Beauty Therapist, Assistant Hair Stylist, Manicurist and Pedicurist, Assistant Spa Therapist and Nail Technician will be offered at both the institutes.

Selection criteria

The candidate must be 10th pass and above 16 years of age. Reliable and timely placement assistance will be provided to the students to ensure that the skilled manpower gets empowered and earns livelihood.

Reportedly, a range of Beauty & Wellness courses will be first offered from KTI’s Centre in Varanasi, under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as a PMKVY scheme.

Post the successful setup of the Centre in Varanasi, KTI and JSWE will further expand their partnership in the state of Maharashtra through its Aurangabad Centre.
