The Executive Council of Jawaharlal Nehru University has passed a resolution to explore the feasibility of building a satellite campus outside Delhi.

The university said, "At its 276th meeting, the Council authorised Vice-Chancellor M. Jagadesh Kumar to set up a committee to examine and recommend measures as the JNU Act, 1966, empowers the university to establish within the Union Territory of Delhi or outside that territory Special Centres and Specialised Laboratories and such other units for research and instruction as are necessary for the furtherance of its objectives."

The committee will explore a probable location for setting up the satellite campus, the programmes that will be run and the financial feasibility.

The satellite campus will focus on professional courses. It will consist of a bio-incubator and industry-funded labs.
