Indian Education Congress 2018: Building India as an EduEconomy by 2020
The Indian Education Congress 2018 has set a benchmark for empowering the entire Education sector, setting the stage for new growth in accordance with the theme of the conference “Educating “Educating for Innovation. Innovating for Education”

In a country like India, where Education happens to be the primary concern, the concourse of some of the brightest minds in one place is a treat to watch out for. Indian Education Congress 2018 witnessed some of the greatest minds in the industry, educationists and academicians discussing ideas to elevate the Education industry. Indeed, there were valuable and insightful takeaways from this Congress.

On 13th February, Franchise India hosted the 8th Indian Education Congress 2018 at JW Marriott, Aerocity, which saw the gathering of exhibitors, delegates and speakers from across the globe. The two day Congress was gifted with an agenda that gave each one of us, the opportunity to hear from the Leaders in the education sector discussing systemic reforms to impart quality teaching and learning in Indian schools.

The Congress was kick started with the inaugural session beheld by Dr. Anil Shahastrabushe, Chairman, The All India Council for Technical Education, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development; Atishi Marlena, Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, Advisor to the Deputy CM of Delhi and DPS Rajesh, OSD to Hon'ble Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development, along with Ms Ritu Marya, Editor-in-Chief, Franchise India signifying an auspicious start to the proceedings.

The inaugural session was about “Building India as an EduEconomy by 2020”. The session was mainly concerned about how we can get education and the economy to work together more effectively. The session had Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Atishi Marlena, DPS Rajesh, as the speakers, talking about ‘Turning the dream of Edueconomy into a reality.’ It’s incumbent upon all the leaders in our country–education, business, and government alike–to turn the Edueconomy dream into a reality.

The first day of the conference kick started with a keynote session which was commenced by Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Prof. Ignacio Gafo, Associate Dean, IE Business School, Spain, Aditya Berlia, Co-Promoter Apeejay Stya & Svrán Group, who had their individual perspectives about the pragmatic transformation in education and addressing the growth challenges when going pan India or global in schools.

The first half of the conference witnessed several panel sessions with speakers like Allan Kjær Andersen, Founder, Orestad Gymnasium, Denmark, Amitabh Mattoo, CEO and Honorary Director- Australia India Institute ,Prof. of International Relations - University of Melbourne, Prof. P. Srinivasan  Ph.D., Associate Dean & Head of the Department, Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani who addressed the conference and enlightened the audiences with their golden words.

In the second half of the conference, there was a panel session on the ongoing evolution and disruption in K12 Education Training, moderated by Gowri Ishwaran, CEO, Global Education and Leadership Foundation and the discussion involved speakers like Raghav Podar, Chairman, Podar World School, Col. Gopal Karunakaran, CEO, Shiv Nadar Schools and many other notable speakers. The session shared adaptive and experiential learning practices with case studies and success stories from K12 Schools that are turning themselves around.

The remaining panel sessions were drawn in by speakers like Amreesh Chandra, Group President, GEMS Education, Dr. Geoffrey Fisher, Head of Academy, Aga Khan Academy, who had focussed on Indian schools and on tailoring the instructional environment to the individual needs, skills, and interests of each student.

Adding glitz to the glamour was the Indian Education Awards 2018 in order to identify and felicitate the innovators, mega minds of the education industry.

The second day started enthusiastically with interesting and informative sessions focussing on insightful and authoritative ideas on the making of education. 

The first keynote session got off the ground with Manit Jain, Co Founder, The Heritage Schools, addressing the audience with his insightful thoughts on mega-trends in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

It was followed by a panel session on exploring the changing DNA of the Indian Higher Education system, the strategic choices and alternative ways in which our existing and future universities can change to ensure their sustainability in the market. It was headed by Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi.

This particular session witnessed some of the greatest minds in the industry. We had Abu Imran, IAS, Director- Higher Education, Govt. of Jharkhand, Syed Andaleeb, Vice Chancellor, BRAAC University, Bangladesh, as our esteemed panelists who took the session forward.

The next keynote session shifted its attention to the paradigms underlying the current approaches to multi-cultural education which was led by Prof. Christopher Abraham, Head Dubai Campus and Sr. Vice President (Institutional Development), S P Jain School of Global Management, Dubai. It was followed by a panel session titled ‘The Funder’s Dilemma’, headed by Sardul Sethi,  Partner, Ernst & Young, Advisory Services and speakers like Sid Talwar, Co-founder and partner, Lightbox and Ruchira Shukla, Regional Lead, South Asia, Venture Capital - ‎IFC - International Finance  Corporation, World Bank Group, took the session forward.

The final session brought in Youtubers, "Edutubers", or "Edutainment" content creators, to share their tutorial knowledge and outcomes to our respected audience. The session was undertaken by Arun Kumar, Founder, Arunz Creation, Youtube Channel and Dr. Praveen Choudhary, Blogger and Youtuber as the respective speakers.

The two day affair surely witnessed paramount ideas, future visions and an amalgamation of quality learning points that the attendees took with them. Among the attendees were some future visionaries who would surely scratch out brilliant ideas that would in future definitely engulf and benefit students on a mammoth scale.
