With a wide range of applications in various industries, High Performance Polymers (HPP) businesses are gradually witnessing a streaking growth in the market. Due to their excellent performance in high heat stability, chemical resistance, mechanical strength, HPP businesses have gained acceptance in the market and is emerging as a promising business venture for young entrepreneurs.

High performance globally is a $67 billion industry, and is growing at 14% growth rate and is expected to touch $130 billion in 2025.

In conversation with Franchise India, Varun Gupta, Director, Calco Poly Technik, shared some insights about the ever-evolving High Performance Polymers’ market, its market potential, scope of the business and much more.

The Growth Drivers of the HPP industry in India

Commenting on the scope of the market in India, Gupta says, “On a global scale, the industry is huge. When we talk about India, the country is still at a nascent stage in terms of HPP industry. Going by the macroeconomics which says that India is going to be the 3rd largest economy after China, we can assume that expectations would again be on a much higher side. So, the requirement for high performance polymer market is going to be more prompt in a country like India.”

Diverse Applications of High Performance Polymers

High Performance Polymers industry is a vast industry in its own, due to its diverse applications. It is because of its diverse applications that the industry provides solutions to many end-use industries as well. This gives the HPP industry another way to expand them in the market.

Talking about Calco’s target market, Varun Gupta said, “Our products are basically divided into two product lines: one is the master batch and second is the high performance polymer. In the first division, the coloring component of the plastics is covered. In this way, the target industries for this division are industries like FMCG, packaging, infrastructure, agriculture, carry-bags etc. In the second division, we focus more on niche industries like automobile, electrical, electronics.”

Energy-Efficiency with HPP products

Keeping the environmental aspect of HPP products into consideration, these products work in tune with environmental conservation as well.

Gupta adds, “With more and more energy being used, we are obviously going to affect the environment. But it has given interesting opportunities for the HPP industry. We could never have imagined that India would be talking about electric vehicles. We are moving towards higher fuel efficiency, light weight cars and electrification. All of this is contributed by various industries and one of those industries is high performance polymer industry. The weightlessness of the car adds to higher fuel efficiency.”
