How Education Trends Are Transforming The Primary Education
2017 being an eventful year for many, the world of education policy was no exception. Like few other professions, educators have always been experimenters. And the trend is expected to continue in 2018. If anything, it is certainly going to accelerate.

With constant innovation in this industry, a sixth grader can be seen chatting via Skype with a tutor on another continent. Distance learning might be a relative newcomer to the education market, but the growth it is witnessing is something to look out for. VIPKID, a global teaching service is enjoying a valuation of $1.5 billion, bringing in about $60 million per month.

Tracking across the horizon for years, the education industry is at a digital crossroad. Online courses have never been more popular at a time when a traditional college education was not that expensive.

The education market in 2018 is all set for digital disruption like never before. There are various trends re-shaping the educating habit of students and teachers. Here are few of these trends to look out for:

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) Will Steal The Limelight

AR and VR are no more buzzwords bandied about in business circles. A report predicts that educational VR market will experience an exponential growth at a compound annual rate of 55% by 2021, while this year’s star is AR. A report projects that educational AR will experience a growth by a whopping 82 % from 2018 to 2021.

The prime motive for business people is to make people fall in love with 360-degree video as hardware costs plummet. Students are expected to watch history come alive and learn foreign languages while getting engaged with virtual speakers, getting real-time feedback on their phrasing. AR and VR are making learning interactive and immersive providing lots of opportunities to the industry people.

Students Taking Charge Of Their Learning

Resources such as the ISTE Standards for Students are adding structure to self-guided education transforming the face of the education. It is believed that when students are in the driver’s seat, they can explore whatever piques their curiosity at their own pace. This will allow teachers to spend more time teaching and coaching and less time managing systems and designing curriculums.

Games and Assessments Will Change The Lesson Plan

Educators have been hobnobbing about assessment for learning tools for the past decade. Also known as formative assessment, Assessment for learning helps teachers check and adjust teaching and learning as part of a lesson rather than at the end. ASL is getting digital where education brands are trying to make the experience more fun and less expensive through an array of apps and games. Incumbents in the space are also innovating, with assessment company ACT dedicating an entire team, ACTNext, to improving measurement practices around learning, knowledge acquisition, and collaboration in modern learning environments.
