How Amazon Is Planning To Tap 70 Million Online Shoppers
Amazon is eyeing Tier-III towns this festive season with their Great Indian Sale

India’s largest online marketplace, Amazon is eyeing Tier-III towns this festive season with their Great Indian Sale.

The company will make an effort to provide more affordable goods with easy finances, popular in smaller towns and villages.

Kaveesh Chawla, Director, Category Management, Amazon India, said, “We have added more than 6,000 products across brands under the large appliance vertical.”

The company said its strategy included better after-sales services and multiple finance options.

Eradicating the Language barrier

Amazon India recently launched a Hindi option on its portal, with plans to reach out to the next 100 million customers.  This option is likely to help its push into smaller towns.

Customers will now be able to find product information, deals, and discounts in Hindi as well as place orders, pay and manage their accounts in the same. This move will help in stepping up the e-commerce firm's battle with Flipkart.

Manish Tiwary, Vice-President, Category Management, Amazon India, said, “This is the first Indian language… it will help millions of customers who prefer Hindi. Now customers can do their Diwali shopping in Hindi.”

Amazon is planning to launch its website in other languages as well. Even its video-streaming platform, Prime Video, has a lot of movies and TV shows in Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and other languages.

Alexa, its voice-based assistant, will also soon be turning multi-lingual.

Easy Transaction

The major problem that people of Tier 3 cities face while purchasing large appliances is the payment of a huge sum of money in a single transaction. Usually, you need to have a credit card to avail EMI facility over online portals.

Therefore, Amazon is introducing “Amazon Pay EMI” for its e-commerce customers in India, mainly those who do not possess credit cards or have the option to pay in instalments through debit cards. By introducing this facility, Amazon will notch up its position among the competitors.

The company has introduced this facility to tap into Tier 3 market and is looking to grab a bigger slice of the festive sales. Amazon is planning to tap 70m online shoppers sans credit card or other financial services.
