Hero Electric Joins Hands with Maxwell for Advance BMS
Hero Electric will procure 10 lakh Battery Management Systems from Maxwell for a period of three years to strengthen its position in the Indian electric vehicle industry.

Electric two wheeler maker Hero Electric has announced to partner with the EV solutions provider Maxwell Energy to procure Advanced Battery Management systems (BMS). Maxwell Energy, a Mumbai based company will provide Battery Management Systems to Hero Electric for its vehicle range. The partnership is for three year and Hero will buy around 10 Lakh BMSs during this period.

Chief Executive of Hero Electric Sohinder Gill commented on this partnership that automakers will get to make safer and performance-oriented electric vehicles under this deal. He added, “This partnership will also help us build the local supply chain and support the Make in India mission, further reducing our import dependency. With Maxwell on board, we now have two most reliable partners to future proof our battery designs.”

According to Hero Electric's official announcement, Maxwell Energy's BMS offers new-generation automotive-safety features that enable numerous configurations and chemistries that will be used in the whole spectrum of electric vehicles (EVs) that will be built by Hero Electric. The innovative BMS system is also compatible with high-side switching and hot-plugging, allowing for simple and inexpensive battery changeover.

A battery management system is an essential component of any sort of electric vehicle since it aids in the management and protection of both the vehicle and the user. It collects vital data, regulates the atmosphere, and ensures that all cells receive the same amount of voltage to prevent overheating.

Hero Electric is now striving to strengthen its position in the Indian electric vehicle industry, and the new partnership with Maxwell Energy is intended to provide its vehicles a competitive advantage. According to Hero Electric, the two companies will also collaborate on a new line of innovative electronics products for the EV market.

This is not a new partnership for BMS by Hero Electric. The company recently announced its partnership with Exicom Power Systems for procuring 5 lakh BMS every year.

According to FADA data for 2020-21, the electric two-wheeler segment's growth in terms of sales has increased fivefold. It also said that Hero Electric had the largest market share, accounting for more than 28 per cent.

Endurance Technologies, an Indian auto component manufacturer, has purchased 51 per cent stake in Maxwell Energy's Battery Management System (BMS) operation for INR 135 crore.
