Global Eco-friendly Brands Seek Investors Pan-India
Eco-friendly start-ups are in vogue and are seeking investors pan-India.

The market potential for eco-friendly business start-ups is over $40 billion and international brands are keen to expand their base in India.

Lately, the franchise industry has seen a fundamental shift when it comes to gains, as the entrepreneurs are blending corporate profits with corporate responsibility towards the planet and its people. Eco-friendly start-ups are in vogue and are seeking investors pan-India.

Global brands have a reputation for taking advantage of the varying environmental legislation in different countries so that they can expand their operations in areas where the environmental legislation is lax.

International brands offering eco-friendly products and business services have identified India as a huge market. High pollution level and waste-generation here offer scope for foreign business ventures to flourish in India.

International brands gaining ground in India

A Britain brand, nkd Ltd, which transformed global bottled-water market with the recent launch of its ‘pod+’, forayed India.

“Representing the next generation of filtration, the product allows one to fill water from dirty lakes, rivers, ponds, and puddles, in fact, any source except sea water. It uses a technology from the NASA space programme that immediately filters out up to 99.9 percent of bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, to yield clean and safe drinking water,” explains Madhu Joshi, Director, nkd India.

Green Home Solutions, a US-based franchise business that provides energy audits and other services to help entrepreneurs make their spaces more environment-friendly, is seeking expansion across India.

"We offer fast, easy and effective ways to solve indoor air problems that cause distress. We fix these problems without introducing harsh chemicals into the environment, as we use products for our services that are made of natural ingredients and are safe when used as directed,” informs David Goodman, President, Super Green Solutions.

Lucrative opportunity for investors

The requirements in terms of investment and area are minimal for these segments. With low operational cost involved, it is a lucrative opportunity for entrepreneurs. Having identified interest from investors and distributors, nkdLife is looking to expand its base in India.

“We wish to grow our partner network throughout India. We are seeking investors, retailers, and distributors pan-India. Airport stores are also one of our target locations,” shares Nik Soni, official spokesperson for nkd India.

Green Home Solutions is looking forward to entering India. “We have a unique business model that provides sustainability certifications and promotes the same for business ventures. We are seeking master franchisees and regular franchisees. We wish to expand pan-India,” quips Goodman of Super Green Solutions.
