Franchise India honours top retailers, franchisors
Franchise India conferred the Star Retailer and Franchise Awards 2011 at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, on December 3rd 2011, to identify the initiatives and success of entrepreneurs and companies that have added towards the development of the franchise and retail sector in India. The awards were presented across 51 major categories including 24 in franchising and 27 in retail category.
The award ceremony was organised by Franchise India & UTV Bloomberg and supported by the Indian Franchise Association (IFA). These awards were presented by the Mana Al Suwaidi, Commercial Attaché of the UAE to India Ministry of Foreign Trade, Embassy of UAE, New Delhi along with D.K. Jain, Chairman and President of the Luxor Group; Don Boroian, the global franchise tycoon and the Chairman of Chicago based Francorp Inc; Tony Fitzpatrick, Managing Partner, Franchise Your Business; Michelle Minieri, Partner & President, Bradford Licensing LLC, USA; Rob Ridder, Partner, Bradford Licensing LLC & Media Consultant USA; Sonya Chowdhry, Director, Franchise India Brands Limited and Gaurav Marya, President, Franchise India.
The Franchisor of the Year award for 2011 goes to G. Raghvan, Chief Executive, Career Building Solutions, NIIT Ltd. Harish Bahl, Founder, Smile Group, was conferred Master Franchisee of the Year Award by Jay, Partner, JSM Corp, Hard Rock Café Entrepreneur of the Year while Retail Entrepreneur of the Year Award was won by Rafique Malik, MD, Metro Shoes and the Licensor of the Year by Gaurav Brar, Cartoon Network.The award winners of franchisor category included best in F & B (café / parlor/ kiosks) category won by New Zealand Natural, Best in (F & B – Restaurant) category by The Great Kabab Factory, UMAK Hospitality Ltd, Best in (financial services) category by ICICI Securities Limited, Best in category (Education) by Eurokids International Ltd., Best In Category ( Courier and Cargo) by DTDC Courier and Cargo Limited, Best in category (Specialty Retail) by TTK Prestige Limited, Best in category (Retail Footwear) by Liberty Shoes Ltd., Best in category (Health, Beauty & Wellness) by Naturals Unisex Salon and Spa and Best in category (Retail Fashion) won by Chhabra Triple Five Fashions Pvt Ltd.
Award Winners of Retail category were Arvind Brands who won the Fashion Retailer of the Year, Food and Grocery Retailer of the Year was awarded to Food Bazaar, Food Services Retailer of the Year to Mc Donald’s, Health and Beauty Retailer of the Year to Dr. Batra's Positive Health Clinic, Consumer durables Retailer of the Year to Croma, Infiniti Retail Limited, Leisure and Travel Retailer of the Year to Da Milano Leathers Pvt.
