"At Building Kidz we focus on developing confidence, commitment among the children", says Sangeet Karamchandani
Parents around the world overwhelmingly believe the arts are a vital part of a well-rounded education. Unfortunately, driven by budget cuts, not only have the arts been sacrificed from the majority of schools for subjects considered to be “academic”, but a need for high-quality early learning has not been met.
Although there are many child day care centers, pre-schools, and schools around the world, there are fewer learning centers for young children that truly provide a specialization in substantial enrichment programs like language, reading, music, dance, and theater.
In an interview with educationbiz at the Innovation Summit 2017, Mr. Sangeet Karamchandani, Chief of Operations and Technology, Building Kidz, spoke about what led to the foundation of Building Kidz and the expansion plans.
Tell us about Building Kidz.
We are a preschool program. We started off in 2003. BuildingKids started off for a need, a need for a daughter. Our Founder’s daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of four. As a mother and a corporate American working 60 hours a week, she could not provide the constant care and stimulating environment she wanted for her daughter.
In January of 2003, Vineeta Bhandari opened the doors of our first school in Pacifica, California. Within those two years, Vineeta realized that she was not alone in wanting this type of program for her child. The enthusiasm and positive feedback from the families and community developed a passion in her for the early childhood education industry.
What are the Challenges and opportunities in the Indian Early Education system?
There is a huge gap for a premium brand and a quality preschool. So, we hope to bring in a program where we focus on not only academic but high quality of hygiene and safety standards. People are realizing there is a huge benefit to sending their child early on to a preschool. At Building Kidz we focus on developing confidence, commitment among the children. We will provide experience that will stimulate the students’ growth, encourage them to live in a personally fulfilling way, and contribute to improve greater society.
